About Me

I'm a versatile writer with experience across a range of industries and subject areas, including economics and finance, corporate governance, entrepreneurship and family-owned businesses, higher education, corporate and employee communications , and more.

I offer specialized experience in the financial services/fintech, banking and SaaS industries, with an emphasis on anti-money laundering and regulatory compliance.

My experience includes work as both a senior-level communications and compliance practitioner. I know how to appeal to an organization's target audiences (short, sweet and honest is a good start). And I know how to speak with regulators.

I have strong technical writing skills, too. I've reviewed and edited stress test, risk assessment, and SOC (Service Organization Controls) documentation for a large, cooperatively owned bank that operates as a government-sponsored enterprise.

Some of my key engagements include:

    • One of the country's largest agricultural and rural infrastructure lenders, which operates as part of the Farm Credit System
    • Daniels College of Business / University of Denver – the 8th oldest business college in the U.S.
    • Bulkley Capital – an investment banking firm focused on middle-market and family-owned businesses

And the professional designations I earned along the way , plus more than 20 years in the corporate world domestically and overseas – support my knowledge base and versatility:

    • FINRA Series 7 and 63 general securities licenses
    • Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), the most widely recognized AML certification
    • Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) from the Public Relations Society of America

“It's a little embarrassing that after 45 years of research & study, the best advice I can give people is to be a little kinder to each other.”
